If you are looking for a supportive, committed, and (sometimes) challenging supervisor who will support you in your work and development consider contacting me. My approach is relational and holistic: I am interested in what is going on for you, and between us in the room, as well as with the client themselves. I believe if you are well supported, in a trusting relationship, where you can explore difficult issues without shame, your clients are more likely to be safe and well cared for.
I hold a UKCP accredited diploma in supervision. I am happy to work with qualified counsellors and psychotherapists, experienced trainees and people starting out on their first placement. If you are a trainee, this will need to be agreed with your training institution.
I work from Ilkley and via Zoom.
Supervision has many definitions but I like this one:
"Supervision is a joint endeavour in which a practitioner with the help of a supervisor, attends to their clients, themselves as part of their client practitioner relationships and the wider systemic context, and by doing so improves the quality of their work, transforms their client relationships, continuously develops themselves, their practice and the wider profession" (Shohet and Hawkins (2012, 60)
As a supervisor I work with you to support your practice, to support your development and more generally support the wider profession. I work within and am bound by the UKCP code of practice, but as many potential supervisees will be BACP members I also work to the BACP code of ethics. I am on the register of Supervisors for SCPTI, Leeds University, Leeds Beckett, and York St John University.
I offer supervision by video or face to face from my office in Ilkley, on an individual basis or as a group of two. Please contact me you would like to explore supervision. I charge £50 per hour for supervision.
